Liam was a bit happier today due to having lots of people over for Mary's birthday. But tonight he decided to play a few rounds of "cough until I throw up", which drew our attention to his laboured breathing. Mary was really concerned about it, and I ended up calling the on-call cardiologist at Sick Kids. After 5 or 6 minutes of talking, he said that he didn't think it was anything to worry about, but Mary wanted me to take Liam to the hospital just in case.
At the hospital, the doctor's only concern was Liam's cough, and he ordered the whole nine yards; x-ray, blood work, urine. A few hours later, he said that Liam's x-ray showed what might be the beginning of pneumonia. It wasn't certain, but better safe than sorry, so Liam will be on antibiotics for the next 10 days.
On the way home, Liam threw up in the car, but he was fine. And now, it is time to sleep.

Moms just have that instinct that something is wrong.
Glad you took him and I hope the antibotics work quickly! LOVE YOU LIAM! (and Zefram) :)
Hope you get some sleep today.
Holy cow! Poor little Lee Lee! Call HSC, tell them about the x-ray and see what they say...it may not be pneumonia...they may have pulled his chest tube too soon and he has a fluid build up from that...which would be a DEFINITE cause for concern!
Love you all~

Poor Liam, Poor you. Sucks to get sick as soon as you're released from the hospital. Someones comment says that you should check with sick kids. I agree. It's a good idea. If Liam is on Portagen now and had his JP's in for a long time, they were woried about chylopericardium.
This is Mary...I already did call sick kids and talked to someone who looked after him the whole 3.5 weeks he was there and she said it just sounded like a cold nothing to do with his JP drain and the amount that he was draining before they took it our wasn't much. But if this continues and the antibiotics aren't working going to MAC for sure which reminds me I have to call them.
This is Matt :). I didn't realize I was logged in as Mary when I wrote that post last night. It was written by me, in case there was any confusion.
